The Department of Scientific Management – Journal of Science announces the “25th Eureka Scientific Research Student Award in 2023” competition organized by the Ho Chi Minh City Youth Union.

You can register to participate with graduation papers in various fields or research topics prepared for presentation at the university-wide student scientific conference. Note: To achieve high scores, you should have your specialized teachers review and provide feedback before submitting your application.

The workshop starts with the presentation by Dr. Susan Germein. Dr Susan Germein’s background is in Education, with a focus on Education for Sustainability (EfS). Her doctoral research was situated in rural Uttarakhand, India and was completed in 2022.

Over 2022 – 2023, Susan has been carrying out projects within the Sustainability Education & Partnerships team. These projects included the development of an online open learning course titled “Sustainability: Think, Care, Do”, which has been successfully piloted in early 2023; and a Guidance document for implementation of Education for Sustainability principles across teaching & learning within the university.

On August 10, 2023, Faculty of Languages – International Cultures organized a seminar on “Sustainable Development in Higher Education,” with the participation of two experienced guest speakers: Dr. Bui Yen Ngoc and Dr. Susan Germein from Australia.

During the seminar, Dr. Bui Yen Ngoc and Dr. Susan Germein shared their many years of research experience in the field of education. The atmosphere was lively and enthusiastic, especially with Dr. Susan Germein sharing her experiences of conducting research in India, a completely new and unfamiliar cultural context for her.

As part of the project, they are developing an online course titled “Think, Care, Act,” along with a guidebook outlining principles for sustainable development in higher education. It is believed that the insights shared by Dr. Susan Germein and Dr. Bui Yen Ngoc will be particularly valuable for professors, lecturers, and students.

On June 8, 2023, at the headquarters of Nguyen Van Trang, Hoa Sen University, Faculty of Languages – International Cultures organized Session #9 of the Professional Development Workshop Series, aiming to support and enhance research capabilities, as well as provide an academic exchange forum for lecturers.

Dr. Nguyen Phuong Lien continued the basic data analysis of the survey on STATA software from Session #8 with more in-depth analyses, specifically Confirmatory Factor Analysis (CFA), Structural Equation Modeling (SEM), mediator testing, and some other examinations.

Following that, Dr. Le Dao Thanh Binh An briefly presented the research ideas she is nurturing and has already begun to implement. It is hoped that after this sharing session, participants will feel motivated and confident to actively present and exchange ideas on the specialized issues they are pondering or the academic areas they are interested in.

Session #9 concluded with valuable lessons, forming research groups with urgent topics in the field of education in Vietnam.

Professional Development Workshop #9 will be organized at 1pm on this Thursday by Faculty of Languages – International Cultures at Room 607, Nguyen Van Trang Campus.

Workshop # 9 will begin with the presentation of Dr Nguyen Phuong Lien. Ms. Lien will continue the basics of using Stata for quantitative data analysis with further instructions on CFA, SEM analysis, CFA, Mediator testing and several other related tests. To benefit from this training, it is advisable that participants have Stata installed.

To kick off the practice series, Dr. Le Dao Thanh Bình An will briefly present research topics/ideas that she is interested in and also beginning to work on. Hopefully, Dr. An’s opening will invite abundant shares of research interests and/or concerns from all participants. Workshop # 9 will end, also hopefully, with a number of promising research topics and research teams so that together we can put all the theory we ‘learned’ in the past workshops into ‘practice’ and demonstrate the ability to ‘think the unthinkable’.
